Meaning:
Having ones’ own opinions and ideas and not influenced by others. Often used to refer to machinery as well.

Usage: 

  • He wanted his daughter to pursue higher studies, but she has a mind of her own and is keen on being a singer
  • He has a mind of his own and was insistent on travelling by himself
  • She was adamant and has a mind of her own as she refused to marry her uncle
