This is who you are – a writer with an organization with the responsibility to produce high quality content. You could be in the early stages of your career or an experienced one, irrespective of the same – there are certain essentials you could do with.
This article focuses on the actual writing process while the pre and post of writing is addressed in the earlier two articles (Are you a Digital Content Creator and Step Based Content Writing).
BE CONSCIOUS:
Let me live, love, and say it well in good sentences.”
–Sylvia Plath
The most captivating aspect of your writing will be the customer pain that you address through your writing. Being conscious of this and ensuring your heading, subheading bring that out, will be a winning formula for you. As the customer/reader is looking for something, he or she is seeking a solution, and in that first 10 seconds if they can relate to your piece, then you have made it. Any successful copy is good only if the reader relates and validates it.
BE FRUGAL:
Words can be like X-rays if you use them properly – they’ll go through anything. You read and you’re pierced.”
Aldous Huxley, Brave New World
Using words frugally does not mean, writing without style. Instead, it is the fine balance between using the appropriate words for the situations that you are talking about. Do remember that the world has in common one huge constraint – TIME. Nobody has the energy, interest nor inclination to go beyond the first five words. So, if they must go beyond, there must be certain hooks interjected at junctures that handholds your reader through the content asset.
BE CAREFUL:
The attractiveness of correct grammar cannot be overstated. Source Unknown
While brevity is a must, that certainly does not mean punctuations, grammar checks, articles can be compromised. These are sacrosanct and we as writers will have to work within these boundaries and at no point can we afford to let go of these fundamentals. Dotting your Is and crossing your Ts are mandatory and do not dream of sacrificing them.
BE GENEROUS:
To produce a mighty book, you must choose a mighty theme.”
—Herman Melville
Consider your article as not yours but a standalone piece that provides wholesome information to the reader. Which means be willing to experiment and expand your writing to include assets from the public domain. Remember the internet is open to all and there are so many resources available for all of us. Choose wisely and be generous to share better and more interesting perspectives that will make the written piece packed with information.
BE KNOWLEDGEABLE:
“I kept always two books in my pocket, one to read, one to write in.” Robert Louis Stevenson
One thing I have learnt is increased knowledge on a topic can make your writing more powerful, brimming with nuggets of wisdom. The knowledge that you carry shines through and unconsciously the written word is loaded with meaning and purpose. It is not always possible be a thought leader in all genres, but this could well be your ammunition to be appreciated for the value you deliver as a writer.
CONCLUSION:
The art of digital content creation has never been so much under the scrutiny as now, so make the most of it. Be the master craftsman and use words judiciously and say what you have to with panache and poise.
