In the quiet, verdant and completely residential area of T.Nagar (Chennai) is a lovely little ladies boutique selling some amazing kurtas (kind of a top), kurtis (kind of a short top), dupattas (kind of a stole) and tops. I had been hearing about it and also been eyeing it every time I drove past, so finally walked into the store and was met by Sushma Tolia, the store manager and owner.
Sushma is a vivacious young lady who was happy to show me her collection from across the shelves. She reminisced that she has been participating in several exhibitions for the last decade in Chennai, but never had had a store. This year, Sushma and her team back in Gujarat have ventured into Chennai and have opened their first store in T.Nagar, Chennai. Naturally, Sushma’s operations are based at Gujarat and they have several stores back there. So, all of her material, designs, stitching are sourced from Gujarat and therefore there definitely is an exquisite ethnic appeal to the outfits. If you are bored with all the south Indian clones of the salwar kameezs of north India, then this is the place to get yourself adorned with typically north style of dressing.
I was enamoured by the bright colours well matched with subtle duppatas and chudithars (kind of a pant). Like in several other stores that we see these days, the mix and match is the trend. You could pick a multi coloured long kurta and match it with dark shade chudithar or salwar and round it off light kota (type of material). The ensemble would look amazing and make one look chic and cool. Me being the big fan of colourful dupattas with plain top and bottom went hunting for them, and I did not have to look far. As there was a stack of duppattas hung strategically at the entrance in different mind boggling hues.
Prices are in the range of Rs.800 to Rs.2000 depending on the type of the top/bottom/stole that we select. There are different aspects that determine the price – material, print and length. Sushma proudly beams that the Seasons is famous for their material quality and the Indian designs, and looks like she is right! I have a strong hunch that the ladies of Chennai are going to be making a beeline for Seasons soon!

BT Bottom Line: We had a beautiful time shopping at Seasons recently and our recommendation for this boutique is SUPER STRONG!
