Hello Friends,
This is the time of the year when cities are getting ready to welcome the festival season of Dusshera and Diwali. Both these festivals are extremely colourful, cheerful and celebrated with great spirit across India. Flowers, lights, lamps, dolls, sweets, visiting, decoration, gifts, new outfits and family get togethers are what makes these festivals so special and close to heart.
The Chennai city had a fabulous chance to see and buy some really fabulous handicrafts items from all over India, thanks to Santhe organized by Sampoorn at the Kalakshetra Foundation from September 8th to 18th. From dolls, footwear, palazzo pants, skirts, salwar suits, sarees, yardage, spices, pickles, kitchenware, furniture, dhurries, carpets, bed linen, home décor, wall hangings the Santhe exhibition was a great experience for the Chennai shoppers.
Sampoorn is the society for Crafts & Crafts People, it is a NGO and non-profit organization registered with Development Commissioner Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India and the World Craft Council. This exhibition showcased the handcrafted and hand woven products made by craftspeople from nineteen states across India. The theme for this edition was: Tree and Nature.
