Hello Friends,

Are you buying a new home? Or, are you giving your present home a nice makeover? Or maybe you have a farm house which you want elegantly appointed? Or maybe your friend has an office that needs to be furnished with objets d’art to give it that classy touch. No worries, you could be in any of the above categories – the place to go to for you would be Narpavi.

Well, to explain further this is a store that offers different types of traditional art items custom made to suit your taste and requirements. From sculptures, murals, decorated doors, light weight stone sculptures, domes, pillars, and Tanjore paintings they offer a wide array of traditional art items.

Azhagar Raja, the store owner proudly says that Narpavi actually means good tidings and good happenings and we gather that the store has been functioning for the last 15 years. They have been doing brisk business from the heart of the city at Warren Road, Mylapore (Chennai, India). What I particularly liked about Narpavi was that, they engage in detailed conversations with the client to know the actual need and custom make a product that is just what they have in mind.

The concept to creation process works as follows:

  • Engage with customer and understand the requirements
  • Prepare a sketch that outlines the proposed plan
  • Review with the customer and make any suitable changes
  • Design the product with the support of a team of artisans
  • Deliver the product on time at the venue agreed upon
  • Install at the home/office as the case maybe

Being an artiste himself Azhagar Raja is able to quickly draw the ideas from the customer and build upon it further so that the final output is – simply stupendous.  He has an extremely talented band of artistes who are specialists in various forms of art which allows him to commit to customer different tasts.  He is confident of going global soon as his current business is servicing all of India, thus far.

As I walked around the store I was so drawn to all the intricate wood carvings and the Tanjore art that were completely eye catching. Having been completely burdened by the aspect of running from pillar to post when I set up my home the idea of all under `one roof’ was like music to my ears.

Address: 88, Warren Rd, Narasimahapuram, Abiramapuram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600004, Phone: 044 4231 3000

BT Bottom Line: We had a beautiful time browsing at Narpavi recently and our recommendation for this Art store is STRONG!
