Hello Friends,

If the end of season sale is luring you on end, the Maithri Rakhi Bazaar is attracting you at the other end. The Maithri Rakhi Bazaar just got launched today at The Park Hotel (near Gemini Flyover) and is on till tomorrow end of day (July 13th and 14th). It is happening at the basement of The Park hotel. Open from 10 am in the morning to 8 pm in the evening.

After you pay a registration fee of 50 rupees, you walk into a set of small rooms hosting different types of products by women entrepreneurs from across India. The carpeted and air conditioned interiors make for a relaxed and comfortable shopping experience.

And there is so much to choose from, clothes and jewelry of course, gifts, skin therapy and weight loss, cup cakes and desserts, herbal mouth freshners, ready to cook health foods, tarot card reading, designer suits, children’s furniture and much more. I was almost on the lookout for popcorn and candy, as it had such a busy exhibition ambience.

Maitri, is a women’s organisation and through this two-day Rakhee Bazaar they they bring over 35 categories to shop from, ranging from artefacts, jewellery, and clothing to food. It provides women entrepreneurs a lucrative platform to grow their business. Naturally the main attraction at the event will be rakhis for the upcoming festival of Raksha Bandhan.

The proceeds from the Maithri Rakhi Bazaar we were told is channeled to several charitable causes. And was surprised to note that it is annual feature for Chennai, as I have somehow only visited the Meena Bazaar. But this is a good one and there are so many different options to choose from.
