Hello Friends,

Have you dreamt of a quiet wedding with just your family and very close friends? Walls strewn with jasmine and gold, dainty diyas and rangoli, urulis with flowers, greenery and potted plants all around you, sheer muslin curtains, thombais and bright yellow garlands hanging down as you walk in…..hmmmm ain’t this a setting that every bride or groom yearns for?

And what if all this was created just for you in a traditional bungalow with a home like ambience in the heart of the city? No? You don’t think it is possible? Even if it was you think you need to travel a bit to reach this place?

Think again, the team Luz House and its founder Buchi Abhimanyu Prakash has made all this possible. It is unbelievably true, as I walked in to Luz House out of sheer curiosity and found a sprawling bungalow with a foyer, balcony, terrace, huge rooms and traditional furniture.  I was bowled over by its charm and had a feeling of being in a ManiRatnam movie.

 What is Luz House?

Luz House is an exclusive venue for anyone with a discerning eye who wants to make their event unique, ethnic and not run of the mill.  And also, not just weddings, but you could come to Luz House to host:

  • Sangeets
  • Signature events

  • Photo and film shoots
  • Special occasions and galas

What is the history behind the Luz House?

The Luz House dates back to the 1800s when Modadaverappu Dera Venkataswami Naidu made big money during the British rule and purchased the Luz House property and grounds. Later, we gather that Venkata Mahipathi Naidu (Buchi Babu) father of South Indian cricket was born here and played cricket in this very same property.  Buchi Babu’s three sons also took on the same cricket playing legacy from their father and all of this happened in the Luz House.  With the independence in 1947 the Buchi family had to give away the extra land holdings but this house remained with them, and still is. And this is the same house that we are talking about now for exclusive events. Got it? I was quite intrigued by the lineage and would definitely feel good about hosting a personal event in a property such as this – steeped in tradition.
