Hello Friends,

Are you a fan of Indian handlooms and handicraft items? And do you painstakingly go in search of them to do up your homes? And are you the type of person who shops for ethnic yardage to make your own salwar suits? And do you like to wear those bandhini ethnic sarees? And then of course do you like to buy floral motifs dupattas to go with your plain salwar suits? Well yes, I could go on and on, but the fact remains that the Indian handloom and handicrafts exhibition and sale happening at Valluvar Kottam, Chennai is a must see.

There are close to 50 shops inside the air conditioned hall and all of them have very attractive items.  This brings together artisans from across India, so we get to see Bandhinis, Ikats, Bengal cottons, Kashmiri carpets, Maheswari cotton, Pochampullis, Kadais, pickles and spices from other parts of India.

Happened to meet Chandhana Challani, the young lady at the counter who is part of the team that is organizing this exhibition. She eagerly tells me that this exhibition is being conducted in all major cities and says the response in Chennai has been very good.
