Egmore Shopping: Easy and Effortless

By June 8, 2017June 29th, 20182 Comments

Hello Friends,

Sometimes, buying a nice outfit does not necessarily mean it is expensive and purchased from glitz malls. Pavement shops, be it in Pondy Bazaar or in other areas of the city swell with good quality cotton material at affordable prices.

And if you enjoy bargaining then head to the Egmore junction, just behind the Co-Optex showroom. Famously known as Cotton Street, a long line of small shops selling huge bales of cotton and other material welcome you.  Be it a nice kalamkari dupatta, or a simple black top to go with your multi coloured duppatta, or just buying different coloured material for salwar pants, this is the place to select and buy.

There is a wide choice; the vendors are knowledgeable, at the same time they can take you for a big ride if you seem clueless.  So go with a clear idea of what you want to buy and decide how much you want to spend and be prepared to walk away if the prices don’t fit your budget.  While I had initially thought that there was only yardage for dresses, I noticed that there were ready made curtains, clothes for children as well.

Some of the shops offer household items, such as curtains as well

Parking:

Driving a two or four wheeler may not be a wise thing to do, as it is a traffic prone busy junction. Auto is the best option to reach this place.
