Hello Friends,

The Pongal festival heralds a slew of auspicious events and celebrations. It’s the time of the year when you have safely bid adieu to the previous year and eagerly waiting to see what will unfold in this New Year. And in TamilNadu it is pretty normal to expect a handful of films that boast of big names.

Pongal 2017 was no different, as IlayaThalapathy actor Vijay’s film was released.  Expectations were high as this was the actor’s 60th film and also he was paired with the sizzling new face Keerthi Suresh for the first time.  Vijay’s films, as we all know are all huge commercial hits and as rightly guessed they have all the elements of a total entertainer. Vijay has a formula for success and it is evident that he prefers to stay within those realms as that guarantees the cash counters ringing.

The actor seems to be only getting younger as he ages, and his dancing has certainly become more spirited and uninhibited. He is a delight to watch and almost pulls you out of the seat to do a jig or two. Hats off to his energy, vitality and constant search for tomboyish tricks. He is reinventing, yes, from the little mannerisms, modulations to the macho acts he is trying something new with each film and he has his fans eating out of his hand.

Plot:

Story wise it is about Bairava (Vijay) being a collection agent for a bank who handles problematic customers as they should be. In the meantime he meets Malarvizhi (Keerthi Suresh) at a wedding and falls for her. Only when he goes to propose to her does he realize that what a mess she is in. As a medical college student she is caught, rather trapped by the medical college management bigwigs. The Medical college management has taken exorbitant amounts of money as fees from the students but has cheated them by not providing any facilities in return. Also Malarvizhi’s friend has been raped and murdered, and Malarvizhi is the only student who raises her voice to question all this. Once Bairava knows that his lover is at stake he goes all out to protect her and punish the wrongdoers. What happens during this process is what the film Bairava is all about.

The events that follow are downright hilarious, smart, absorbing as Vijay makes them to be so. He is a one man army indeed. All in all, Bairava is a fun film that you don’t question too much and just have fun watching Vijay in all his splendour.

  • For a person of your caliber you seem to have handled “Bhairava” with kids gloves. Never the less even if Mr Vijay wanted to do any thing different his fans wouldn’t let him to do so. Considering this Vijay seems to have treaded the narrow path very carefully and has deftly handled his fans. Wishing him well to take up more varied roles in years to come.
