Hello Friends,

This gigantic Lord Hanuman comes into vision as soon as you enter Sri.Anjaneyar temple at Nanganallur. On a Sunday evening having heard of a famous Sri.Anjaneyar temple in Bangalore we were curious to see what Chennai had in terms of a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. And naturally everyone chorused for the Nanganallur temple and off we went exploring. This temple in our very own Chennai is a must see temple one bustling with devotees on a Sunday evening.

Queues of devotees line up patiently to get a darshan of this 32 feet Hanuman standing with palms folded in prayer deep in mediation unmindful of all the attention. We gather that the statue has been sculpted from a single piece of rock. And there is a Raghavendra Swamy temple also situated nearby, hardly a 2 minute walk from the main Sri.Anjaneyar temple.  Apart from the main deity, there are statues for Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and Lord Vinayakar.

Fresh and green vegetables lined up the streets outside the temple, and we happened to visit the temple just before Dusshera and dolls display was so beautiful.
