Hello Friends,

The third edition of the Chennai Book Festival organised by the Tamil Nool Veliyeedu Matrum Nool Virpanai Membaattu Kuzhumam was launched in the city today at the YMCA Ground, Royapettah.

The festival is on from today, July 21st to July 31st, and hosts 200 publishers from all over India with thousands of books in English and Tamil on display.  There are audio books, British Council membership discounts, Amazon selling Kindle on special offers, books Krishnamurthy Foundation, Giri Trading Agency, HigginBothams, The Hindu providing 50% off on some of the its books, and so much more.

There are 6 long rows with book stalls on either side, spacious and centrally located. You can buy books for your family, as you will find comics fiction, self-improvement, spiritual, auto biographies, old issues on discount and so much more.

Owing to the digital developments in the last decade, the readership for physical books has come down drastically. This has led to the closing down of several book shops leaving publishers without any sales. This book festival is an attempt to revive the reading habit and bring back readers, and the festival targets school children and youth initiating them into the reading habit.

It is bang on the middle of the Royapettah (opposite the Government Hospital, Royapettah) very close to the Express Avenue Mall and Clock Tower. All in all, the space wears a festive look with pop corn, cotton candy, luck draws, discounts, interactions with prominent writers,Chennai themed exhibition and ofcourse books to buy.
