Hello Friends,

To conclude the year of 2016 on a high note and feel good note – you might want to catch Moana a full blown computer animation film that is such a visual delight.  Slightly curious but not too eager I walk into this film all the while thinking it may turn out to be a typical children’s film. But I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed every minute of this simple heartwarming film. It is a movie equivalent to drinking hot chocolate with a good friend on a rainy day. Be it the use of rich colours, idyllic settings, music and well matched voice over/dubbing everything fell into place making it a wholesome visual treat.

Plot:

It is a story of a spirited teenager who cherishes a bond with the sea right from her childhood. Moana is the daughter of a local chieftain of the island of Motunui and is warned against going too far into the sea for fear of the evil forces.  But she is out on a mission and is keen to take her clan back to their sea faring roots.  She goes in search of Maui with the blessings of her grandmother who believes that Moana is the chosen one.  She carries with her the heart (stone) of the goddess TeFiti which when restored would bring back Goddess TeFiti to the rorigianl form and thereby the island of Motunui will become abundant again and the locals can set sail again. So during this process of this journey what Moana undergoes and how she almost gives up only to strike back again forms the crux of the story.

Spectacular visuals and breathtaking imagery catch the eye of the viewer. The intelligent conversations between Moana and Maui are hilarious and engaging. An ideal film for the children and why not for the adults as well. As it comes as a refreshing change from the stereotypical films of violence and romance that we normally watch. Go for it!
