Hello Friends,
The Chennai of today hosts different types of food for the urban citizen. By now all of us know that the city has become quite versatile in adapting to new times. Dingy cinema theatres give way to high tech malls with multiplexes, traditional clothing stores to fancy boutiques, Idli Dosais make way for Sushi and Thai food. And the latest to enter Chennai is the Maharastrian cuisine. Not sure if there have been early adapters, but MeenaTai in Alwarpet inaugurated early this year seems like a good option. It is just the place for a quiet evening with family/friends if you are in the mood to try a new type of Indian cuisine.
The ambience is good, very tastefully done interiors with lovely photos and object d’art. Hindi music was playing in the background mildly adding to the mood. We were there on a Friday evening, and we were received by a well-mannered staff that was eager to help us make the right choices.
From starters to deserts MeenaTai has a wide array of dishes to choose from, and the menu explains what the dishes are made of. Our selection of starts included puri type of dishes with delicious filling and then we ordered a Masala Bhath which was a spicy rice served with tomato gravy, which was filling and tasty. All in all the place and food makes you want to come back to the place for more good food! And another useful point is that valet parking is available, and if you know Tangerine it is on the same road just a few buildings away from it.
