Hello Friends,
It was a weekday evening and we were driving through Nungambakkam and were toying with several options to have quick supper. After a lot of discussions around many known restaurants in and around Nungambakkam, we were lured by a colourful board at Haddows Road. And the word – Vegetarian caught my eye and I walked in, rather climbed up to the first floor restaurant – Krishnavillasam. It was quiet and we were the sole diners at 6:30 pm a rather unusual time for dinner and pretty late for an evening snack.
However, the staff quickly took our orders and provided helpful suggestions. Well folks, Krishnavillasam offer South Indian, North India, Kerala and Chinese cuisine. It is a sort of a quirky combination as suddenly from a regional palate their menu jumps to Chinese, but the fare was good.
They served piping hot, freshly cooked stews, idiappams and puttu, as we were interested in trying out their Kerala delicacies. The Kadala curry to go with the puttu was tangy and tasty and the stew mild and filled potatoes, carrots and French beans. The masala vadai was a tad oily, nevertheless delicious. Finally we ended our meal with Tea, and again the tea was rich and aromatic, it turned out to be a perfect ending to fantastic meal.
The ambiance was good, warm and inviting with Lord Krishna related décor, flute music wafting nicely in the background. It’s a fairly large place with comfortable seating arrangement and the food was served in tasteful cutlery. Krishnavilasam has two outlets in the city, at Nungambakkam and Adyar.
