Hello Friends,
Junga is all about Vijay Sethupathi, his effortless acting, his team of favourites coming together, exotic locations and some really funny sequences. Plot-wise there is not much to chew on and it’s just a set of mindless situations. Since Vijay Sethupathi himself is one of the producers it is only natural that he dominates the film screen by screen, and people love it.
If you have watched Idharkuthane Asaipattai Balakumara, which was the previous film that the hero and director teamed up then you will be disappointed with Junga. Because Junga comes nowhere near that classic comedy which catapulted Vijay Sethupathi to stardom and firmly established him as a prominent frontline actor.
The hero (Vijay Sethupathi) is a don which he realizes much later from his mother played by Charanya. She tells him how his father and grandfather have been dons only to throw away money and become wastrels. He is enraged by this and vows to his mother that he will regain the lost property and money lost by his predecessors. In this process, there is revenge; there are fight sequences, and of course two love episodes. The one with Madonna Sebastian is totally unnecessary and does add any depth to the film. Then there is doe-eyed, Sayeesha who adds enough beauty to the film.
Junga is a film that is full of clichés and panders to the usual masala format of the mass entertainers. This is not a film that one would expect from Vijay Sethupathi, especially when we admire him for: Kavan, Naanum Rowdy Than, Vikram Vedha, Soothu Kavuum, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kannom and the likes.
It’s good the actor pays more attention to the selection of upcoming films if he is serious about continuing his success wave.
