Shopping in goa: trinkets and teeny weenies (Part 5)
Hello Friends
OK! Yes this is my most favorite picture from my Goa album. I so totally fell in love with the hats in different hues and styles. Just as we were trudging up the Aquada Fortress in the blistering summer heat, wondering how to cover and protect my head – there I see a bunch of little shops selling hats and sunglasses.
I ran to them, and with lemon juice in one hand and inspecting the multi type hats I had a blast. So happy I was at the sight of these dainty little hats that I just went ahead and bought them without even thinking what I would do with them in Chennai. It is a very natural sight in Goa to see men and women walking about with hats covering their heads. To match, you could even buy a pair of sunglasses, because these are the only ways to protect yourself from the heat. As it was really, really hot.
As we did not have the privilege of visiting the night bazaar we had to make do with the shopping in and around the beaches. Little bead chains, earrings, bangles and bracelets lure any woman visiting the beaches. Also there are little knick knacks for your homes or as give aways.

Well one of the most popular shopping hubs is the Panjim shopping market.
From cashew, feni (local liquor made from cashew) fruits, vegetables, handicrafts, clothes, spices and footwear et al, you can shop to your heart’s content. Want to pick up an ‘I came to Goa’ T-Shirts? This is the place. Little eatery joints are tucked away nicely, I was surprised to find an Udupi hotel serving regular masala dosais. So you can come here to take a piece of Goa back with you.
