Hello Friends,
Who ever said that the malls and cinema theatres are the best places to be in during the summer season, was absolutely right! Having booked for a matinee movie I left home exactly at 2.00pm in the blistering heat. But thankfully my theatre was in the EA mall and it welcomed me into its AC bosom and I gratefully walked in.
One thing about this mall known shortly and dearly as EA to us, never fails to lift my mood and spirits. And it is so convenient for me, because it just a hop, skip and jump from home and in no time I am there. That apart its neither frighteningly big, nor ridiculously small but just in between and affording one a great set of options to stroll leisurely and look around and get ideas put in your hand to do up your home or yourself.
Wikipedia informs me that:
- It is a shopping mall promoted by Express Infrastructure, a subsidiary of The Indian Express Group. And was inaugurated on 26 May 2010.
- The mall is built on 10-acre site inside the historic Indian Express Estate and has four floors of retail space, a building for corporate offices and a hotel.
- Out of 10 acres, about 3.57 acres has been taken up by buildings. The rest have been used for car parking, drive-ways and landscaping.
- In all, the mall has 26 lifts, 34 escalators and 4 travelators.
- The mall is bound by Whites Road, Woods Road, and Patullos Road and has a three-level basement parking space for over 1,500 cars and a parking area for bikes.
Thought of sharing some useful pointers and pictures with all of you about EA. Here you go!
MALL:
An arial view of the mall spanning four floors with easy escalators and elevators to take you up and down.
A roof that allows natural light to stream in making the floors well lit and cozy
SHOP:
Hordes of option for women shoppers to pick up: kurtis, salwar suits, sarees, chudithars, footwear, lingerie, handbags, cosmetics. Oh what a mind boggling array of stuff. I held on to my purse like deal life and refused to part with it but it was becoming increasingly difficult. From big branded stores like Westside, Kalaniketan to several small players all offering an – irresistible range.
EAT:
OK, now you have shopped, you need to rest your feet and sip a glass of ice cold juice, chat with your friends and like every one of us dig into your shopping bag to see all that you have bought. And admire them enough. There is an amazing food court on the top most floor that serves both vegetarian and non vegetarian food options. Kapila Dasa hotel is available and as well as a small café that offers quick idli and dosai. This is really good, you could not go wrong if you order a masala dosa here. That apart, there is Subway, KFC, Wangs Kitchen, Rajdhani, Fruit Shop, Coffee Day (no Starbucks is not here) and I saw a newly opened doughnut joint as well. There are Happy Hour options as well, so watch out for it when you enter the Food Court.
KIDS:
There are several options if you want to buy clothes for your children and also keep them engaged in nice little paly zones for them.
FILMS:
With a touch screen facility you can walk in to the movie lobby to buy tickets or plan for your next.
But what is a movie without some popcorn and coke?
Vegetable puffs, Red Bull, Cold Coffee, Coke, Nachos, Black Forest, Ice creams, doughnuts, brownies, and ofcourse water are available for you to pick or order to be delivered. Cool no?
REST:
Washrooms, storage, resting nooks and a dozen other facilities make the EA mall visitor friendly. There is a quite a bit more that I may have missed but I was pretty tired with all the walking, so was happy to sit down in my seat and start watching the movie. Ok, folk? So happy malling to all of you reading this!
