Hello Friends,
96 is a simple love story that does not have a happy ending but warms the cockles of your heart and leaves you teary eyed, well almost. A fine film and is a coming together of two very sensitive actors who have an amazing impact on the audience.
Vijay Sethupathi needless to mention is the rage now and can don any role and deliver it with aplomb. In 96, he pairs with Trisha another very talented actor who has essayed a variety of roles and never fails to amaze us with her staying power. In an industry where heroines are relegated to the inevitable mother, sister roles in a matter of few years, Trisha has managed to stay fit and grab roles that highlight her acting prowess. And yes she has been around for a while now. Great job, Trisha!
It is heartwarming to see young and debutant directors bravely launching sensitive films and directing established actors. So is C.Premkumar a cinematographer by profession who has ventured into directing. We gather that he has been encouraged by Vijay Sethupathi to take the next step in relation to the script and direct it himself. Hats off to this actor who encourages his fraternity!
The supporting cast of Devadarshini, and the young ones playing the characters of Jaanu and Ramachandran are phenomenal. You see some familiar faces from Vijay Sethupathi’s turning point film Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom are seen here as well. The film toggles between the school flashback sequences and the present, and another beauty of the film is it all happens in one night. So it makes the film more riveting and realistic.
All in all, do catch this film if you get a chance.
